AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY PROJECT!
Sylvia McDowell began researching African Americans buried at Forest Hills Cemetery in the spring of 2009. It is with great sadness that we announce that Sylvia passed away in March, 2010. A group of historians and community activists are continuing her work. You can read about the project and some of Sylvia discoveries here. If you know individuals who are buried here whose stories are inspiring – community leaders, accomplished artists or musicians, pioneering professionals or successful business owners – please tell us about them by sending us a Nomination Form.
