We think of the horizon as a perceptible line where the sky and the earth meet. Horizon aims to draw the viewer's gaze upwards to an imaginary higher level, moving away from the physicality of the earth and toward the intangibility of the spirit. These boats were constructed to navigate toward that intangible world.

These boats are intentionally temporary and fragile due to the material used and their simple origami construction. A layer of shellac gives them translucence and rigidity. They are designed as a means to get from one place to another, not as something that will last forever. I liken them to a seedpod, which shelters and protects a seed until it sprouts, and then, no longer needed, is discarded.
