Statement
Magic Bird
represents the concept of spiritual flight. The element of time is conveyed
through stone and mirror, an abstract bird, a metaphor for flight from
the mortal world to the afterlife. In this sculpture, the use of three
varieties of granite conveys the beauty of earth and nature, a memory
of the living world. The mirror, however, has no memory of the past and
does not stop time. It is forever capturing the present and releasing
it to the future.
