Artist's Statement
My approach to art making stems from tradition that emphasizes materials and process. My sculptures are the result of a long intuitive investigation. I work as a means to explore materials and forms and as a way to develop and inform my conscious and unconscious concerns.

From my studio efforts, several reoccurring themes have emerged. Images that make reference to nature's genesis and forms that symbolically refer to time, such as seed and egg, sphere and torus, have been central elements in my more recent sculptures. This concern is apparent in Spinning Buddha through its expression of a union between motion and stillness. My inspiration for the piece was a 5th century Indian depiction of the seated Buddha. Whatever the source of my inspiration, I strive to create provocative and engaging sculptures.
