Artist's Statement
Long before people developed a written language, they learned how to communicate or record through pictures. The full meaning of these ancient symbols left on stone will likely elude us forever.

In caves or under vast cliffs, images of humankind, animals, and nature were inscribed, pecked and painted onto stone. The settings where these markings appear have become special places, sacred places, places where spirits dwell. The challenge before me is to carry on, to reinvestigate, to renew this tradition of communication, and through my visual interpretations, I hope their spirits can live on.

Here at Forest Hills, I have observed and gathered images from both the natural environment and from the monuments to create a special place.
